University of Birmingham Medical Society

UBMSFC - Birmingham's finest of sporting societies welcomes you. If you're looking for silky football at university, you've come to the right place. If you're searching for top banter, then look no further.

We are a social, multi-cultural and competitive club with players of all levels of abilities. With three 11 a side teams, an extremely prestigious Medsoc seven a side league and weekly training sessions, there is more than enough football for everyone. The First and Second XI are entered into the local Amateur Football Association leagues, pitting themselves against the best (and worst) that Birmingham has to offer. The First XI have enjoyed a number of well decorated years after originally starting in division 8 and five seasons later gaining promotion to the Premier League, last season securing their highest ranking in the league! The Second XI had a fantastic season last year, gaining promotion to Division 4 and only just falling agonisingly short in the Junior Cup final against a team 4 divisions above them (4th time lucky this year?). The third XI compete in a very competitive yet enjoyable intramural league. We also offer a Wednesday 6-a-side team for the preclinical years just in case you weren't getting enough of your football fix already.

In addition the club compete in the annual National Association of Medical Schools (NAMS) tournament which is always an excellent weekend away!

This year we are also the proud founders of a regional NAMS cup which spans the length of the season and incorporates teams from across England, Scotland and Wales.

Sometimes however, the football must take a back seat for our social ambitions! In an average year we have the Trials Day social, Fresher’s "welcome drinks", the Old Boys Day, matches against other Medical schools, the Chairman’s curry and NAMS weekend away. So as you can see there are many opportunities for you to get involved on and off the field!
