UBMS Debate Soc
The Birmingham Medical School Debating Society, a branch of UoB MedSoc, hosts a mixture of open debates on a variety of social, economic, political and medical ethics issues for all MedSoc members to attend. Our events are held weekly on Thursdays from 6PM - by joining the Facebook group, members have an opportunity to vote on the timing of debates, and suggest topics for discussion.

We collaborate increasingly with other societies and organisations; thus far, we have worked with Friends of MSF, GPSoc, the University Debating Society, and the GMC. We hope to collaborate more with other societies in future. Additionally, we have a formal debate team, consisting of 6 team members, which has recently entered the IME inter-medical school debating competition. We had lots of fun at the event in Manchester last year, and we are currently preparing our entry for this year's competition. This year, we are also liaising with Manchester Medical School and Sheffield Medical School to organise an inter-medical school debating competition, which will be held in January. Both opportunities provide our members a chance to network with like-minded individuals from other med-schools.

Although our committee can't be present on a zoom call today we are more than happy to answer your questions about everything debating so please don't hesitate to give us a message on facebook and we'll get back to you asap.

Look forward to seeing you all at our next session!
