  • BWAMS have an exciting new outreach opportunity! We are looking for a medical student (any year) to join us at the Vision Junior Conference at Imperial College London ( https://www.union.ic.ac.uk/medic/vision/junior1.html ) on Sunday 3rd December. There will be 3 of us in total - we'll travel down together and run a stall, giving advice to year 11s and 12s that are interested in applying to Medicine. Train tickets will be reimbursed and lunch/refreshments will be provided at the conference. A certificate of attendance will also be provided for your portfolio. This is likely to be a popular event, so please only sign up if you can definitely make it! Here's the sign-up link: https://www.union.ic.ac.uk/medic/vision/junior1.html

  • We have an exciting new event happening on Saturday 18th November called Junior Emergency Medicine (JEM) at Birmingham Medical school. During the day you will have the opportunity to teach year 11 students from a widening participation background how to do the A-E approach (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure) through simulation. This is a fantastic opportunity to consolidate your A-E approach before exams and we'll give you a certificate for your portfolio.

The day will run from 10-4pm and you will be required to attend one training evening on Wednesday 25th October 6-8pm. We need 4 student nurse volunteers and 8 medical student volunteers (4 to be the "patients" and 4 to guide the students through the A-E approach).

If you are interested please email uobwams@gmail.com before Monday 16th Oct with your name and year of study.

If you want more information send us an email or check out the Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/JuniorEmergencyMedicine/?ref=page_homepage_panel
