University of Birmingham Medical Society

A.R.T.E. is Birmingham Medics’ Performing Arts Society, and we are a fantastic, friendly and dynamic group offering a huge amount for all those theatre and musical-loving folk out there!  Every year we put on two productions – a musical in the first term and a play in the second term.

Whether your heart lies in acting, singing, dancing, playing in a band or being a bit creative with set-building, producing or even directing – there’s LOADS of ways you can get involved. We’re always keen to recruit new members so keep an eye out on the MedSoc website, Bulletins and our Facebook group if you want to keep up-to-date with all the goings on. The rehearsals are a great chance to meet lots of other students from different years and the socials are always great fun! For the past 23 years ARTE has put on shows such as ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’, ‘Grease’, ‘Guys and Dolls’, 'The Unexpected Guest',  'Singin' In The Rain', 'The Amorous Ambassador', 'Fame' and most recently  'Noises Off'.

This year, the hilarious new musical 'Made in Dagenham' is being performed in November (16th-19th). Inspired by a true story and based on the hit film it tells the story of the female Ford factory workers who fought for fair pay through industrial action. If you're someone who wants to get involved please get in touch, for those who'll be new to the university in October it'll be too late to join the musical but keep an ear out for information about the play in 2nd term!

Any questions or more info on how to get involved – just drop us an email or join our Facebook Group for updates:
