***UPDATE OCTOBER 2015***

Hello everyone, I hope you're settling well into your new lives at Birmingham! Remember all the fun of Freshers' Week? We are now starting the process for selecting Year 1 and Year 2 Social Reps, this role just means you get involved when fun stuff like that happens again! I've set it out nicely for you below :)

Role: Assist in communication between the committee and your year regarding social events and other goings on. This mainly involves lecture shoutouts making people aware that things are happening and no one gets left out. You'll probably do about 5-10 shoutouts over the year. Also, if there are any issues, people will come to you so you can bring it up with someone on committee. Normally, the rep also runs a freshers only event later on in the year (Noah's Ark theme last year was very successful ive heard!). Now, the important bit, PERKS:

  • VIP at Medball, one of the largest events of the year. This gets you queue jump and free drinks on the night! This is very exclusive! (you still need to buy the ticket though)
  • Get to know committee members better as you work more regularly with them. You have lots of contact with the ENTs and VPS especially!
  • It's a stepping stone to bigger things in Medsoc!

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in then please email me (ANP343@bham.ac.uk) by Monday 12th at 7pm showing your interest and up to 100 words saying why you're suitable for the role. We'll then open up voting online for your year to decide who you want to be Year 1 Social Rep.

***MEDSOC MEMBERSHIP CARDS***

Quick note on these little rascals. They are on their way! As we have so many sponsors we've had issues confirming things with everyone but its all sorted now. So watch this space! Check out this link to see all the deals these give you, very useful for buying important textbooks for reduced prices: http://www.uobmedsoc.com/deals.php

BUY MEDBALL TICKETS!! It is an amazing amazing event (probably my favourite of first year), i know it costs a lot but it is so so worth it! Find the Medball group on Facebook.

And finally! Remember, the Facbeook group is the best place to keep up do date with everything Medsoc! Check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/401740720021386/ If you dont have facebook then watch this space and check the bulletin regularly for all the info!

And remember, don't buy essential cell Biology! You wont use it after these first few weeks!

Thats all from me for now. If you have any issues feel free to drop me an email at ANP343@bham.ac.uk. In the mean time, enjoy the rest of Semester 1, you'll be hearing from me very soon!

Much love,

Adam Pailing
