  • ** Future of Medicine Conference ? 14th February 2018, University of Birmingham Medical School **

    The Birmingham Medical Leadership Society are proud to present the Future of Medicine Conference ? an event aimed at showcasing how medicine will evolve in the future with an emphasis placed on the evolution of leadership, education and technology within healthcare.

    The conference will feature an array of high profile speakers including Sir Bruce Keogh (National Medical Director, NHS England) and others, along with poster presentations, stalls and demonstrations.

  • Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management - Medical Student Electives

    This is a new programme to aid in your development as an aspiring medical leader. We will be awarding a maximum of ten electives, at no cost to participants, to take place 9-27 April 2018. The key features of the programme include time within one of a range of influential healthcare organisations, such as the BMJ, GMC and NICE, as well as engaging taught material to grow your leadership skills.

    The scheme is open to all 3rd, 4th or 5th year medical students (including those undertaking an interclated BSc) who have approved leave from their University. This could be as part of an elective, a student selected module, or any other form of educational leave.

    The deadline for applications to our electives scheme is 17:00 on 11 December.

  • The Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM) is pleased to announce a new programme of electives to aid medical student members in their development as aspiring medical leaders.

    We will be awarding a maximum of ten electives, three weeks in duration, to take place in spring next year. The exact dates are not confirmed, but they will likely all run concurrently in March or April 2018.

    The main features of an FMLM Elective will include:

    Shadowing of current National Medical Directors Clinical Fellows across two healthcare organisations (final list to be confirmed)

    Development of management and leadership skills through a group task that will run through the elective period

    Exposure to senior medical leaders within the NHS and arms-length bodies
