Hello, from the MedSoc branch of the Best Racket Sport in The World™!
UBMS Badminton is one of the biggest sports clubs MedSoc has to offer, with members of all abilities from across all years. Whether you’re a seasoned club veteran or just working out which way round to hold the racket (it’s the thinner end), come along and you’ll be greeted with a friendly, welcoming group of like-minded badminton-ers.
We host weekly club sessions, giving players of all abilities a chance to play in a relaxed environment, with occasional tournaments, coaching, and team training also on offer. For the more competitive amongst you, we also have men’s, women’s and mixed doubles teams that you’ll be able to try out for in the first few weeks. The team plays regularly in the local league on Sunday evenings in addition to taking on other medical schools from across the country in the annual NAMS tournament. We’ve even brought home first place on more than one occasion in recent years!
We have social events throughout the year, which will be slightly altered due to COVID (*sigh*) but nonetheless, you can look forward to society curries, Fab N Fresh at the Guild of Students, games evenings, pub crawls, and the now-infamous racket social where we vie for racket-based sporting supremacy against squash and tennis.
If you’d like to know more, find us on Facebook or Instagram by searching ‘UBMS Badminton’, or drop us an email at bhammedicsbadders@gmail.com
There really is no-one too inexperienced to come down and play badminton!
